Match report

With Westerton Wasps withdrawing from the league, Ardencaple were still in the hunt for 2nd place with a win away to Milngavie.
Caple started brightly with Aidan and Jack linking well down the left hand side. Caple earned the 1st corner of the match but nothing came from it. Caple were then thankful to Tommy for a brilliant stop as the Milngavie player charged forward. Caple earned a free just outside the Milngavie box, Blair drove the ball in low and hard but it was blocked by the wall, with a suspicion of hand ball!!!!
Milngavie made the breakthrough, Tommy, under pressure from the striker failed to hold a shot and the Milngavie forward was on hand to tap the ball into the net. 0 – 1.
Caple were struggling to get any real momentum in the match playing balls down the throats of the really tall centre back. Milngavie then got their 2nd of the game. A corner form the right was not defended and the tall midfielder was allowed a free header. 0 – 2.
This was the same ref as the one we had the week earlier and Caple didn’t learn from that. Aidan was yellow carded for kicking the ball away when not awarded a free kick. Caple did have a good chance just after that. A quick break out of defence led to a ball being flicked through by Blair to Aidan but unfortunately his shot was well held by the keeper.
Subs: Eidan/Nathan on – Rhys/Blair off
Eidan had a good run down the left, played in Eidan whose pass to Nathan was controlled but his shot was just wide.
Half time 0 – 2 Milngavie
The 2nd half couldn’t off started any worse, Caple needed to get the 3rd goal but almost immediately Milngavie scored. 0 – 3
Sub: MJ on – Chris off
Milngavie scored again from a corner that was defended and another free header. 0 – 4
Sub: Andy L on – Jack off
Aidan had a great run, beat about 4 men but as he was about to shoot the ball was nudged away for a corner. Caple couldn’t score from their corner but Milngavie went up the other end of the pitch, won a corner of their own and again scored with a free header. 0 - 5
Subs: Rhys/Blair on – Tom/Aidan off
Rhys played a ball through to Eidan who raced on, held off the defender and chipped the ball over the advancing keeper. 1 – 5
The last goal of the game came again from Eidan. Tommy’s long kick bounced over the defence and Eidan was on hand to beat the keeper again. 2 – 5.
This was a sad ending to such a promising season. And a massive thanks to MJ for all is work and effort over the last few seasons. Good luck in Aberdeen.
