Match report

Caple win final home game of the season.
On a glorious sunny Sunday morning Ardencaple beat a Westerton Yellows team who themselves still harboured title ambitions.
Caple started well and kept up a high tempo throughout the match in what must have been the warmest day of the year so far. A god start was needed and Caple got the early breakthrough, Alan too a throw in to Nathan he controlled the high ball and flicked it over the defender to Aidan, his cross was met by a Messy esq run from Blair and his shot beat the keeper at his near post. 1 nil to Caple.
The game was being played in a tight congested midfield with the Caple defence and keeper not having much to do. When they were required to the back 5 stopped everything Westerton could throw at them. They did however get lucky when the Westerton forward managed to scoop the ball over the bar from 6 yards out.
Caple won at least 2 corners, but the ref, as per usual this season seemed more interested in making sure throw ins are taken from the correct spot rather than getting then decision right in the first place. Tom had been taken out in the middle of the park, the ball in was flicked away by the Westerton midfielder and a goal kick was given. At the other end a ball through to a Westerton player, at least 2 yards off side was brilliantly saved by Tommy.
Blair shot wide from a good ball through by Aidan. The last major action of the 1st half was Blair using his pace to beat the defender and as the keeper came out his flick past him drifted just wide.
Half time, Caple 1 nil.
Subs: MJ/Chris on – Nathan/Jack off
The 2nd half was all Caple. Aidan’s quick thinking led to the 2nd goal. He chased a ball through he placed the ball past the keeper but was aware it was hitting the post and followed up to tap in. 2 nil
Sub: Blair off/Connor on
The midfield was now becoming even more dominant. MJ chased a ball into the corner and put the Westerton defender under pressure. His miss-placed clearance went straight to Tom who got the ball out from under his feet and shot just wide from the edge of the box. Lewis Grant played an exceptional ball through the middle of the defence; Tom raced on and from the edge of the box placed the ball past the keeper and into the net. 3 nil to Caple.
The next goal came from a bit of a harsh decision on Westerton, a ball through was re-directed back to the keeper and an indirect free kick was awarded on almost the penalty spot. As the wall lined up, the Caple players spread across the edge of the box and Rhys played a ball to Chris who blasted the ball into the top corner. 4 nil to Caple.
Subs: Nathan/Jack on – Aidan/Tom off
Connor took a free kick and played a ball into the middle of the park, Rhys chested to Chris whose 1st time shot was very well saved by the Westerton keeper.
Sub: Blair on – Rhys off
The final goal was both individual but also a great team goal. Lewis played a ball out to Chris who unselfishly played a nice ball to MJ whose shot across the goal and into the top of the net was magic.
Final score 5 nil to Caple. A good all round team performance.
