Back to League action this week and with only 5 matches left 3 points was a definite requirement. Caple were out to avenge last years away defeat at Lenzie on what was more the size of a tennis court than football pitch. Caple kicked off into a slight breeze and very fine drizzle and had the first effort. Harry played a ball out of defence, Blair ran on but his effort was just wide. Blair was again in the thick of it battling hard, getting to the bye line and crossing into the danger area. Jack played in Aidan down the left, he drove into the box and shot, the keeper made a good save which unfortunately went to Blair but before he could get in a proper shot the ball had hit him and gone wide.
Caple were having all the ball, possession and territory. Pressure was being put on the Lenzie defence and as the ball broke out, Jack looked up from just outside the box, saw the keeper off his line and chipped the ball over everyone and into an empty net. 1 – 0 Caple.
Lewis played a great 1 – 2 on the edge of the box and shot, a great save by the keeper for a corner. Nathan’s corner was headed just wide by Tom. Nathan then crossed from the left, Jack volleyed just wide.
Lenzie won a corner, the ball squirted up off of a Caple player and hit the bar, close one. Caple broke out and as Blair drove into the box he was fouled, kept his feet and carried on, then his cross come shot was handled by the defender but nothing was given. 2 blatant penalties in the one attack. Mini had a great run down the left, fainted to cross then beat his man and crossed to Nathan whose shot was blocked for a corner.
Sub: Rhys on – Aidan off
Aidan who had been sick during the week made way for Rhys who with his first touch played a ball over the top for Blair to run onto and chip the advancing keeper to make it 2 – 0 Caple.
Nathan drove in from the left and his bullet like shot from the edge of the box flew over.
Half time 2 - 0 Caple
Subs: Andy L/Calum – MJ/Lewis G off
Lenzie had a spell of possession and they used the No 8 down their right to good effect. He chased a ball and crossed low to the front post and with the striker getting to the ball first flicked it under Tommy to make it 2 – 1.
Sub: Connor on – Alan off
The final goal of the game came from a lay off by Rhys on the edge of the box to Blair who drove his shot into the bottom corner, 3 – 1 Caple.
Sub: Lewis G on – Jack off
Subs: MJ/Alan on – Nathan/Blair off
The rest of the 2nd half was a mix of Caple attacking but making the wrong final pass or shooting from too far out and Lenzie huffing and puffing but not being able to break down the Caple midfield and defence.
