Reds v ED United

On a cold chilly winter’s morning Caple travelled through to Bearsden to play an EDFC United team more intent on kicking players than the ball. Within the first 60 seconds of the match Nathan was taken down in the box but to the astonishment of all the visiting parents the ref waved play on.
Caple were playing some good football, passing the ball nicely on a hard crisp surface. Eidan was getting lots of the ball down the left and using his pass was beating the right back at will. Jack was next to be fouled, a quick free kick played in Aidan and only a last gasp tackle stopped him shooting. Caple had a string of corners but no real attempts on target. Another penalty shout. This time a shot was blocked…using the defenders hands but again the ref waved away the appeals.
It was all one way traffic, Aidan crossed the ball for Tom but he was slightly stretching for the ball and could only head it skywards for the an easy save for the keeper. Caple had a scare at the other end as a ball across the 6 yard box was put away only for the ref to blow for offside. Caple stepped up their game and Eidan was put through. The defender tried everything to stop him going through, even grabbing his shirt. Eidan stayed strong and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. Caple 1 nil.

Eidan was again played in down the left, his cross was like a hot potato for the defence and the ball seemed to ping around the box for a minute.

MJ on – Jack off
The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half were pretty scrappy, lots of miss placed passes and balls being played to opposition players by both sides. Tommy was called into action and a good save was needed to stop an equaliser. Battling down the Caple right gave MJ the chance to play in Eidan who placed the ball under the keeper to make it 2 nil.
The game was getting a bit tasty with EDFC United committing foul after foul.
George on – Mini off
The Caple defence was having to do a lot of work but not really being put under too much pressure. Harry brought the ball out of defence, passed to Lewis and his defence splitting pass was picked up by Eidan who raced through to score his hat trick.
Eidan was again played in and as he was shaping up to shoot the United player clicked his heels and gave the ref no opportunity but to award the free kick and show the player a straight red card. Rhys was called up from the back to take a free kick that was up and over the wall but lacked an extra bit of power and was caught by the keeper.
EDFC did have an another attempt on goal and Tommy’s first save saw the ball spilled and as he commando stylie crawled across the floor grabbed the ball and held it.
Eidan was given another opportunity to extend the lead and this he did, chipping the ball over the keeper to make the score 4 nil and effectively kill off the game.

Not much else happened in the last 10 minutes. Caple were tight at the back but with out making any impact going forward.
Final score – Caple 4 – EDFC United 0.
One point of note was MJ’s tekkers. Next week you may see him diving with Tom Daley or Dancing on Ice!
