On a chilly Autumnal morning, Caple kicked off and were immediately on the attack with Lewis Grant firing just wide. The next attack saw a corner being attacked at the front post by Harry, but again just wide. The first 20 minutes (30, if you include the wait for the net to be fixed), was very much like previous matches, lots of possession and chances but some excellent saves by the Clydebank keeper stopped Caple from scoring.
Subs: Aidan/Tom off – Chris/Andy on
The break through came following Rhys’ tackle in defence and his through ball being picked up by Nathan, who kept his composure and slotted in. 1 – 0. The 2nd goal wasn’t long in coming. Eidan was put clean through and again slotted past the keeper. 2 – 0. Harry played a great ball through to Eidan, only for the keeper to make another good save.
Chris was dropping deeper and after some battling in midfield, passed to Rhys whose ball through to Jack was cheekily chipped past the rushing keeper for a 3 – 0 lead. Nathan had a shot well saved. Eidan was played through but had his effort well saved. Jack had a great shot from the edge of the box that drifted just wide. Caple had a succession of corners but no takers. Tommy belted the ball up field for Eidan to run on too, another good save by the keeper. Jack played in Nathan, again another good save.
Half time 3 – 0 Caple.
Subs: George/Andrew on – MJ/Eidan off
The 2nd half started slowly for Caple and the break seemed to affect them more than Clydebank. From a cross Bankies got a goal back, then another and before they knew it the score was 3 – 2. Caple then got their act together and started playing football again. A kick by Tommy was misread by the Bankies defence and allowed Chris t streak through and score 4 – 2.
Subs: Aidan on – Nathan Off.
Andy won a ball in midfield, passed to Jack who put Eidan through, slotted under the keeper 5 – 2. Harry then won a ball on the edge of his own box, ball down the line for Eidan whose cross was spilled by the keeper at the front post and with Aidan loitering he tapped in 6 – 2.
Chris played in Eidan, his shot form an angle hit the post and rebounded to Aidan who followed up and drilled the ball low into the corner. 7 – 2. Chris was played through and beat the offside, collected the ball and slotted home 8 – 2. Jack had a goal disallowed because of a “Dummy†on the pitch!!!! The last goal was from a goal kick straight to Eidan who ran in on goal and scored. Final score 9 – 2.
Good final score, although again some composure in front of goal could have led to some more goals.
