Match report

Ardencaple progressed to the last 8 in the Regional Cup following a hard fought but deserved win against Falkirk White in the Community.
The game started well with both teams trying to get the ball on the floor and play football. Caple had the first meaningful attack with Tommy playing the ball out to Mini who played a ball down the line to Eidan and his flick over was tamely hit by Chris straight at the keeper.
Rhys played a ball out of defence to Tom whose pass to Eidan allowed him time to shoot but his shot was well saved. Falkirk’s first effort was a chip down the right and as the man drove into the box his chip over Tommy wasn’t high enough and was well held. Caple were having a spell of pressure allowing Harry to sweep up anything that was cleared up the pitch. Chris found himself in space in the box but as he tried to get the ball from under his feet he was well tackled and the danger was cleared.
Falkirk’s next attack led to the opening goal. A cheeky chip between the 2 centre back and the striker raced through to slot past Tommy. 0 – 1.
Caple were straight back at Falkirk, Eidan passed to Aidan and after some good feet on the left hand side of the box crossed to Chris who was just stretching and couldn’t get a decent connection on his shot.
Sub: Nathan on – Jack off.
Mini, dummied his man and passed to Eidan down the left whose cross was in the mix of players a but just behind the Caple players coming in.
Andy L on – Chris off
Nathan was played in down the right and his pass to Eidan was smashed into the net. 1 – 1.
Half time score 1 – 1
Caple started well in the 2nd half, battling hard but not finding the cutting edge. Eidan was played through but his shot not only beat the keeper it flew over the cross bar and almost over the fence. A long ball over the top had Tommy in 2 minds and as he went to pick it up the Falkirk strike nipped in and slotted into an empty net. 1 – 2. Almost immediately Caple were 3 – 1 down, another long ball was picked up by a Falkirk forward and again another goal. Eidan was then adjudged to foul a Falkirk player in the box and a penalty was awarded. Tommy saved to his right but as the Caple players stood and watched a Falkirk was first to react and tapped in to make it 1 – 4.
This seemed to wake the Caple players up. Aidan was played in down the right and his cross over the keeper hit the inside of the side netting. 2 – 4.
MJ/Calum on – Lewis/Mini off. Caple then went for it. The back 3 of Harry, Allan and Calum were playing well and with Rhys playing as an extra man in midfield Caple started to take control. Rhys fed a ball though to Aidan who kept his composure to get another goal back. 3 – 4.
Nathan crossed for Aidan but his shot went just wide. It was all Caple but they couldn’t find the cutting edge. Calum switched the ball to Eidan who crossed and enabled Nathan to tap in 4 – 4. Only one team looked likely to win this game but as in some football matches, Falkirk had the ball on the left, 2 passes across the 18 yard box and the right midfielder shot past Tommy to make it 4 -5. Falkirk were trying to slow the game down but as the keeper kicked out a goal kick straight to Aidan he placed the ball back past him and with almost the last kick of the game made it 5 -5 .
Extra time beckoned and it was all one way traffic. Caple’s fitness was beginning to show, Rhys won a free kick but as it was too far out played it across the goal and Lewis ad a first time volley but straight at the keeper. A Caple corner was taken by Nathan on the right and as Harry leapt like a salmon to power a header straight past the keeper. Caple finally took the lead 6 – 5.
Caple had all the pressure, possession and territory. The keeper kicked the ball out, straight to Rhys who controlled it and shot past him to make it 7 – 5.
Chris on – Eidan off. Nathan was played in down the right, his cross was just behind Rhys but with Chris coming in form the left drove the ball into the net with his first touch. 8 – 5. Unbelievable turnaround!!!!
Half time extra time 8 – 5.
Caple turned round and immediately went on the attack, Chris drove into the box and his prodded pass across the goal was missed by everyone and rolled into the net. 9 – 5. Rhys was played in, held off his man but his flick past the keeper hit the post and was cleared.
Jack on – Aidan off
MJ had a run down the right his cross was controlled by Rhys who battled hard on the floor to flick a ball to Nathan who blasted through a crowd of players to make it 10 – 5.
Tommy was called into action again, his punch from a corner was picked up by Chris on the edge of his own box, his pass to Nathan was held up and a through ball was picked up by Chris who had continued his run. His chip went just over. The final goal was scored by MJ. Rhys was played through and instead of shooting he slide a pass to MJ who, with the use of the post made it 11 – 5 to Caple.
What an amazing game of football. At 4 – 1 down and again with only 30 seconds left Caple looked out of this. A great battling display from all 15 today.
