Match report

Ardencaple started this match wanting to maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign and from the kick off it looked as if that may be the case. EDFC took the kick off, Eidan put pressure on the defender and took the ball into the corner but unfortunately his cross was over hit and went out for a goal kick. The next attack saw Jack beat his man who was fouled in the process. Andy delivered a good ball into the near post but Aidan’s flick flew just over.
Again more good play in central midfield from Tom led to Jack taking a first time shot straight at the keeper. EDFC had a speculative shot at goal and as an aimless effort was drifting wide Tommy went to pick up the ball but ended up picking up an injury! Step up Lewis (shouldn’t have played so well in training) Grant. A slight reshuffle in midfield was needed with Nathan coming on up front. It was all Caple as EDFC tried their best to get out of their own half; the only thing missing was some clinical finishing from Caple.
The first goal did finally come. Jack’s battling in the box led to a shot and save by the keeper who couldn’t hold the shot and a corner was awarded. Chris’ delivery was right on the spot and with Tom standing all alone on the six yard line his bullet header couldn’t miss. 1 nil Caple.
Sub: Blair on for Chris.
Nathan was next to test the keeper, his good control got the ball free but his shot was straight at the keeper and well saved. Eidan was doing what he does best, beating his man and getting a good shot in low near the keepers post, again another good save. A good team effort next, Jack won the ball in the centre circle, his ball over the top was flicked out to Blair advancing down the right and his ball was met by Nathan whose header was cleared for a corner.
Sub: Andy on for Eidan.
Half time 1 nil.
Another keeper change, Harry (the cat) taking the gloves from Lewis for the 2nd half. MJ came on for Jack. The 2nd half was just a continuation of the 1st, all Caple. Blair pinged a shot from distance that flew over. Some good work by Aidan and Nathan and another Blair effort over.
The crowd was beginning to get a tad nervous, at 1 nil, an EDFC break could lead to an equaliser. The nerves were quickly put to bed. MJ played a long ball down the right wing to Aidan; his quick feet baffled the defender and a ball across the six yard box for Nathan to tap in. 2 nil Caple.
A quick flurry of goals then followed. Tom battled hard in midfield and fed the ball between the left back and centre back to Chris who rounded the keeper to make it 3 nil.
Blair was playing well on the right. He beat his man and fed the ball into the box. Eidan’s shot was deflected past a despairing keeper. 4 nil. Eidan was again putting pressure on the EDFC right back, his tackle and break into the box was smashed past the keeper. 5 nil.
The final goal of the match was by Eidan who chased a totally lost cause as the ball looked like it was going out for a goal kick. As he reached the ball his left foot shot beat the keeper at his near post. 6 nil Caple.
The final score didn’t really indicate the dominance in both style of play and possession. A big thanks should go to the 2 stand in keepers, who didn’t actually have a shot to save. Another good all round performance and another 3 points.
